John Smedley

The company, founded in 1784 in Derbyshire by John Smedley and Peter Nightingale, manufactured muslin and spinning cotton. Later it extended to knitting and producing a wide array of finished garments. The company has been manufacturing its high quality knitwear in the same building for over 200 years.
