Paul Smith

Born in 1946 in Nottingham, Paul Smith always wanted to become a professional racing cyclist. He left school at 15 to work at a clothing warehouse while pursuing a cycling career, but at the age of 17, a serious accident ended his racing ambitions. More than a decade later, the British designer showcased his first menswear collection under the Paul Smith label, in Paris. He is one of the designers who changed people’s perception of suits by making them part of the casual outfit as well.
